Description: Enjoy a marvelous afternoon of MAGNIFICENT MELODIES from the Golden Age of Hollywood, the 1950’s & ‘60’s. The hits will be presented through stories and song. Baruch Koritan and soprano JoAnne Magden will sing some of the most passionate and gorgeous cinema hits, including, “Love is a Many Splendored Thing,” and, “Moon River.” Baruch will share anecdotes that capture the magic of these timeless melodies that are an American treasure. Irish songs from the silver screen, such as ”Look to the Rainbow,” “Over the Rainbow,” and “Torr-Ra-Loo-ra,” will celebrate the day along with George M. Cohan hits while you sing-along. Instructor Baruch Koritan has extensive musical theater credits, including the title roles in Most Happy Fella, Sweeney Todd, (Arizona premiere), Lancelot in Camelot, Paint Your Wagon (Windmill Dinner Theatre) and Caiaphas in Jesus Christ Superstar (Mesa Amphitheatre). He performed Academy Award-winning songs at both Scottsdale and Tempe Centers for the Arts, opera at Phoenix Symphony Hall, and sang for the Year of Mozart in Vienna, 2006. He video-reviewed touring Broadways shows at ASU’s Gammage Auditorium for their website, and since 2010, teaches about Broadway/Hollywood composers and personalities. In addition to singing, Baruch was conductor-pianist for Don Cornell, Roberta Sherwood and Ernie Menehune; pianist for the Victor Lombardo and Frankie Carle orchestras, and was teatime pianist at Phoenician Resort for seven years. He has sung the national anthem for a Phoenix Suns game and has performed for presidents, royalty, and homeless shelters.
