The lawless, untamed West lasted only about eighty years. In that short period of time, legends were made that will be told as-long-as Americans cherish their unique and exciting Wild West history. Enjoy hearing stories about the events, people and expansion that formed the American west, such as the tragedy of the Donner Party, the building of the Transcontinental Railroad, the Powell journey through the Grand Canyon, the immense impact of the California Gold Rush, environmentalist John Muir as well as General Sam Houston. McCarthy will also talk about some of the fascinating people, places and events that he has used in his popular western and historical novels. Instructor Gary McCarthy is a national award- winning author who tells colorful and sometimes humorous tales of the American West beginning with the famed mountain men and up through when the West was finally tamed by barbed wire in 1873. McCarthy is a gifted storyteller who creates novels based on real events and the tales of early western settlers and characters. His novels are which are available by Amazon as print books, audio books and ebooks.
