Class Information for Winter 2020: LEARN TO PLAY NATIVE FLUTE, Fridays, February 21, 28 and March 6, 9:00-11:00am, Beardsley Recreation Center, Agave Room, limited to 15 people; (W723)
Have fun and learn simple songs to play on a native flute. Six-hole flutes in g are provided for you to use during the class. You do not need any musical background because Laura uses a simple, finger-numbering method. you’ll be able to play 10-12 songs by the end of the class. Flutes and lesson books will also be available for sale, if you are interested.
Instructors Laura Perkins and Ken Green teach and perform throughout the United states as the White Owl Duo and are Nammy Finalists for best native American Traditional recording and are Artist in Residence in US National parks and have produced fourteen CDs, three audio books and four Native American flute books. Ken is renowned for his Native American flutes. His flutes have impeccable pitch, beautiful hand-carved fetishes, a patina that is enhanced with age, and a purity of tone quality that is unrivaled among flute makers.
