Class Information for Winter 2020: GETTING PUBLISHED, with your first or next novel, Noon-2pm, Wednesdays, January 29 and February 5, Palm Ridge Recreation Center, Summit Hall B (W737)
The publishing world has changed dramatically in the past decade and authors have more options than ever to get their first or next novel published. While there is no easy route to take, this workshop is designed to introduce writers to the major avenues available to traditional publishing and self-publishing. The workshop will span two sessions, each for two hours. The first session will treat traditional publishing and will address the key elements of writing a query letter and submitting a query, submitting a manuscript, finding an agent and/or publisher. The second session will treat self-publishing and will include those elements and differences between vanity publishing and real self-publishing, pitfalls to avoid, formatting a manuscript, choosing a printer and/or publisher. Both sessions will address marketing and creating a marketing plan. Even large traditional publishers insist their authors come prepared with a solid plan to sell their books on the world marketplace.
