Class Information for Summer 2019, Free: DEALING with EMOTIONAL ASPECTS of HAVING CANCER or CARING FOR SOMEONE with CANCER, Tuesday, September 17, 3-5pm, RH Johnson Lecture Hall (SF115)
This class will cover the emotional, psychological and social toll the disease can take on an individual, an aspect of having cancer that is often not talked about with health care providers. We will review common symptoms of depression, anxiety and body image issues that commonly occur during cancer treatment, as well psychological side effects of medications. We will also discuss end of life issues, caregiver burnout and coping strategies for these problems.
Instructor Brad Millman, PsyD is a psychologist at the Banner Health MD Anderson Cancer Center and specializes in working with people with cancer. He assists patients to address the pyschological, biological, social and spiritual aspects of illness. A 2016 graduate of Adler University in Clinical Psychology and completing a 2018 Fellowship at Michigan State University, he recently joined the Banner Health, Boswell team.
